Peter Eastgate won WSOP 2008

Now WSOP 2008 is over and winner of the event was Peter Eastgate from Odense, Denmark. He is 22 years old and he is the youngest player ever to win World Series of Poker Main event. Phil Hellmuth was the previous record holder, he was 24 years old when he won WSOP. Peter Eastgate won the first prize of $9,1 million. The heads up was between Peter Eastgate and Ivan Demidov from Russia. Eastgate was the chipleader when the heads up begun, but Demidov was playing very well at first and doubled up and was up to 50/50 in chips. After 208 hands of the final table Demidov raised for 1,95 million in chips and a call from Eastgate. Flop came 9-7-6. After flop Demidov bets over 3,6 millions and after some time Eastgate called.Turn Was J. After turn it was check-check. River was Q and Demidov bet 7 millions. Call by Eastgate and Demidov had A-10, a bluff, and winner of the pot was Eastgate with his J-8, got a pair of Jacks.
Eastgate was the first Dane who won the WSOP main event and the second bracelet winner after Jesper Hougaard.

Full Tilt signs sponsorship with WPT

On Thursday WPT annonuced that they had sign a sponsorship with Fulltiltpoker.net. This site is an ecducational site and this site is is being run by Full Tilt Poker.
Full Tilt will be a big sponsor when World Poker Tour is aired at Fox Sports for season 7. This will be 26 episodes.
Big Poker companys had sponsored a WPT event this season. Pokerstars had Pokerstars Caribbean Adventure. Party Poker had the event The Party Poker Million and Ultimate bet had an event called Ultimate bet Aruba Poker classic.

On Full Tilt you can play with the poker pros, including Phil Ivey, Gus Hansen, Jennifer Harman and many more. You can also chat with them and ask them about what ever you want poker related.
There is still no times for when tro air the WPT season 7 but it will be annonced before 2008 is over.

Will Fry won EPT Budapest

Now the first EPT Budapest is finished and the last man standing was a pokerstars players Will Fry. Will is from Nottingham in UK and won $595,839 in first prize money. He also won a seat to the EPT grand final in Monte Carlo. This was Will Fry´s first big live event and he ended up winning it. He was up against Ciprian Hrisca from Romania heads up. The last hand of the tournament came after about 5 hours play and lookeed like this:
The put all the chips in before the flop and they showed the cards, Fry had J-J and Hrisca had A-6. The flop was 10-Q-6 and there was a little hope for Hrisca. But nohing came and J-J won the hand, means that Will Fry won the EPT Event. Pokerstars player Johnny Lodden who is from Norway by the way, was out at 8th place winning $53,200. On place seven was the hungarian player Zoltan Toth with a winning of $78,736.
The swede at the final table, Martin Jacobson finished 3rd. He ended up winning $197,904.
In EPT Budapest there were 532 poker players attending, and the Buy-in was $4000+$350. This event was held in Sofitel Hotel in Budapest. Next EPT event is in Warsaw and is from 15-19 November.

EPT Budapest started

Yesterday the ETP Budapest started and this is the first time there is a EPT event in Hungary. There is 532 poker players in the event and they play for the prizepool of $2,128,000 and the first prize will be $595,839. The buy in is $4000+$350 and will last for four days, from October 28 til November 1st. The event takes place at Las Vegas Casino at Sofitel Hotel in Budapest.
The 1st day (Day 1a) there was 262 poker players starting and 88 players survived the first day and will be back at Day 2. Day 1b has just started today and here will many big names show up, especially from the Pokerstars Pro team. We can follow names like Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier, and he has just come back from Las Vegas where he won the WPT Festa al Lago and a first prize for over $1,4 million. Other names on day 1b is William Thorson, Alex Kravchenko, Dario Minieri and a big star on the ETP scene, Sebastian Ruthenberg who won EPT Barcelona, the first EPT event this year.
We will come back to pronounce the winner of this event and a little highlights from the final table.

Bertrand ”ElkY” Grospellier won WPT Festa al Lago

Bertrand ”ElkY” Grospellier won World Poker tour Festa al Lago yesterday, and won the first prize money of $1,4 million. This final table only took five hours to play, and then all five other players were eliminated by the Team Pokerstars pro Grospellier.
Heads up Grospellier were up against Nam Le, who is a very good player that have great results in World Poker Tour events. But this time he would not win. Grospellier had a 15 to 1 lead when it was time for heads up. The last hand of the tournament was when Grospellier had 10-10 and Le had A-Q. Grospelliers 10-10 held and he was the winner of $1.4 million. Nam Le got a second prize of $943,215.

Soon time for Final table in 2008 WSOP Main Event

9 Players left. November 9 is the date. Do not foget it. It´s finally time for World Series Of Poker Main Event 2008, and nine players is going to battle for the first prize of over $9 million. The chip leader at this table is Dennis Phillips that have 26,295,000 in chips at final table start. Dennis is from Illinois, USA and has only played poker for 4 years. He won his seat by playing a $200 quailyfier at a casino in Illinois. Dennis is 53 years old.
Second in chips at the final table will be Ivan Demidov, a poker player from Moscow, Russia. He is 27 years old and he is a online player, and call himself a Semiprofessional poker player. He will be starting the tournament with 24,400,000 in chips.
Number 3 in chips is Scott Montgomery with 19,690,000. He is from Ontario, Canada and is 26 years old. He is a poker pro and has been that since 2006. Scott is one of the favorites to win this WSOP 2008, and earlier this year he became 5th at the Los Angeles Poker Classics, and cashed out $300,000.
On place 4 we have a Danish player and his name is Peter Eastgate. He start the game with 18,375,000 in chips. Peter is 22 years old and if he wins, he will be the youngest player to ever have won a WSOP main event.
In place number 5 we find Ylon Schwartz from Brooklyn, New York, USA. He will also be a favorite in this final table though he has cashed in 11 WSOP events since 2005. Ylon is 38 years old and has been gambling for 25 years, he told pokerlistings.com in an interview. He will be starting with 12,525,000 in chips.
At 6th place we have a Canadian from Toronto. His name is Darus Suharto and have 12,520,000 in chips at the table start. He was qualified by a $80 satellite and played a couple of satellites to get to the main event.
At 7th place we find David Rheem that is a 28 year old player who lives in California, USA. David has won the most tournament money of all the players at the final table. He is from Miami but has moved to California. He will start the final table with 10,230,000 in chips.
Number 8 at the final table is Craig Marquis from Texas, USA. He is 23 years old and will start the final table with 10,210,000 in chips.
At the 9th and last place is Kelly Kim from USA. He is 31 years old and is a professional poker player. He will be short stacked with only 2,620,000 in chips.

The Final table of WSOP Main Event will be played at Rio Casino in Las Vegas November 9. We will come back with the results right after the final table ends.

 

Focus on: Daniel Negreanu

Daniel Negreanu was born in Toronto, Canada in 1974 and was learning to play poker at 15. He moved to Las Vegas when he was 21 years old and when he built up his bankroll. It didn´t went that well for Daniel and he had to move back to Toronto, Canada to rebuild his bankroll.
In 1997 Daniel Negreanu won 2 events at World Poker finals. He was also named the best all around player. His winning here was $55,064.

The year after he was the youngest player to win a bracelet in World Series of Poker, when he won the $2000 Pot Limit event. In the years to come he won 2 World Poker Tour events and 3 more bracelets in WSOP. He was very successfull in many tournaments. When the Wynn Casino opened in Las Vegas they took Daniel Negreanu as their Poker ambassador. But this lasted not very long, and in 2007 Daniel Negreanu signed with PokerStars. Now he is in Team Pokerstars with other poker pros like Chis Moneymaker, Joe Hachem and many more big poker names. At the Card Players Magazine´s Player of the year award he was named the Favorite Poker Player, this was in 2006.
Daniel Negreanu have total 4 bracelets in WSOP and have made över $10 millions in tournament winnings.
His favorite hockey team is, ofcourse, Toronto Maple Leafs, and you can often see him wear Toronto match jersey.

Matrix Tournaments at Full Tilt Poker

There is a new cool tournament at Full Tilt Poker called the Matrix. In this tournament you play 4 Sit & Go at the same time against 8 other players. And it´s the same players you play against in all four Sit & Go´s. This tournament is like nothing you seen before, and you can only find it at Full Tilt.
In the tournament there is a Sit & Go prize pool just like ordinary Sit & Go´s, but there is also a Matrix prize pool that goes to the player that earned most Matrix Points. You get the Points by knock out a player (Knockout Points). If you do a Knockout you will get two points, and for every player you outlast you get one point. This points is called Survival Points.

Glen Witmer won World Poker Tour NAPC

Glen Witmer won the WTP North American Poker Championship that was played at Fallsview Casino Resort in Ontario. This was Glen Witmers first big tournament win and he can now cash out $1,090,589 in first prize money. Witmer was the chipleader when the final table began, but not many people though he would win. But he did.

Here is the chip count at the start of the Final table:

Here was 3 poker pros in Kathy Liebert, Gavin Smith and Marc Karam, and they were the favorites to win this event. First to leave the final table was James Trenholm when he had 7-7 and Smith had J-J, Smith won the pot and it was goodbye to Trenholm.

Heads up was between Glen Witmer and Gavin Smith. The final hand Witmer had  A-K and Smith went all in with his 5-5. The flop was Q-J-2. Turn was J and Smith was close to win the hand. Witmer could still win if he hit Ace, King or 10 for straight. The river came Ace and Glen Witmer won the World Poker Tour North American Poker Championship.

Focus on: Phil Ivey

Phil Ivey, that many peolpe claims to be the best poker player in the world, was born in California but his family moved to Roselle in New Jersey when he was just 3 months old. He was starting playing cards with his co workers at a telemarketing company where he used to work. He started his career in Atlantic City and became a poker pro.
His first World Series of Poker title he won when he was 23 years old and this was in the year 2000, winning the title by beating Phil Hellmuth and Amarillo Slim. This was in the Pot Limit Omaha event.

2002 was a good year for Phil Ivey, and at the World Series Of Poker he won three braclets and this is very unusual. The three events he won at WSOP 2002 was 7 Card Stud Hi/Lo, SHOE event and the $1,500 7 Card Stud. He also came in the final table at WTP, and won two tournaments at the Bellagio, and was the winner in World Poker Open Tournament.
2005 he really dominated the poker world. He was on the final table twice at WPT, cam second at the WSOP Circuit event, won $1 million in prize money when winning Monte Carlo Millions tournament, and only 24 hour after this first place in MCM, he won the FullTiltPoker.net Invitational Live from Monte Carlo and a first prize of $600,000.
In 2006 Phil Ivey was The Player of the year by All In Magazine, Bluff Magazine and at the UK gaming awards. In 2008 Phil won his first WPT event, winning the Los Angeles Poker Classic. This was his 8th appearance at the World Poker Tour final tables, and this is a record hold by Phil Ivey.

Phil Ivey now lives in Las Vegas with his wife Luciaetta and he loves to play golf. He was in the tornament World Series of Golf where he finished 3rd. This tournament is a cross between golf and poker. He is also a big fan of Basketball, with favorite teams Los Angeles Lakers and Houston rockets.
He is well known as “Tiger Woods of Poker”.   
When you read all this information about Phil Ivey, no wonder that many people calls him the best player in the world!
