The $15,000 Carbon Poker League’s Big Final is coming ever nearer with the January 8 climax less than two months away now.
The leading 30 players qualify for the 18:00 GMT event early next year – and it is ‘XxMTVxx’ who continues to top the leaderboard after collecting big scores from the opening three VIP freerolls.
Certainly, he will be aiming to pick up the first prize from next year’s Big Final, with $2,250 going to the eventual champion.
The top 15 places are paid, with second spot being awarded $1,550 and even 15th collecting a handy $100.
However, while ‘XxMTVxx’ may be in charge of the league on 120 points, he will undoubtedly be nervously peering over his shoulder at Ganadian (115 points) and becken22 (100 points) as they aim to close the gap on the leader.
Additionally, with the likelihood that more players will sign up for the league as the Big Final approaches, ‘XxMTVxx’ must be expecting some late charges on his top spot.
The Carbon Poker League is certainly far from over as there are still numerous weekly $3+50¢ ($50 added) Tuesday tournament points to be won, while the $5+$1 ($100 added) Friday tournaments supply double points.
Last Friday’s winner was ‘venko1982’, who picked up 30 league points as well as the cash. Those were the first points gained by ‘venko1982’ but he could still make a move for a top 10 finish come January.
Eighth-placed ‘ZEXIME’ also enjoyed a good result last week, claiming fourth spot for 14 points to climb two places above balon96 (56 points) and basker2b3 (53 points).
All these players, and more, will be looking to boost their rankings by playing in the final two VIP freerolls.
The next one arrives on Thursday, December 1, and, as well as a free $1,000 added prize pool, the winner will collect 120 league points. It’s not over until it’s over.
