Sebastian Ruthenberg won the first EPT tournament of the season in Barcelona. He defeated 618 other poker players in the tournament, and won heads-up against Fintan Gavin, this heads-up was very short. He took home $1,360,100 in first prize money.
Sebastian Ruthenberg was sponsored by Pokerstars and Fintan Gavin was a Pokerstars qualifyer. Ruthenberg started the final table as chipleader and he made it all the way.
He won the German Open in Poker 2006 and from there he just played better and better. He also came third in ETP in Dortmund, Germany. Sebastian Ruthenberg won a World Series Of Poker braclet in June at the Seven Card Stud-tournament aswell.

There were 619 poker players in the starting field, with a buy-in of $8,000, it became a record in prize money with $4, 952,000. Next tournament on the European Poker Tour will be in London, starting at October 1. Buy-in to this tournament is $5,200+$200. We´ll come back with results later.

EPT awards will take place on the 9th of September in the Opium Mar in Barcelona. This award will honer the best players in Season 4 of European Poker Tour, and the fifth season will start, also in Barcelona, the day after the awards, 10th of September.
The host for the evening is none less than Pokerstars Daniel Negreanu with sidekick Gloria Balding.
There will be seven categories, five will be decided by a judge and two will be decided by a vote, People´s choice Award by ETP.com and Poker Writers´ Award by the media.
The other five categories are: Best Newcomer, Best Performance, Best Overseas player, Best Pokerstars Qualifier and Player of the Year.
The ETP Barcelona open will be played from 9. September until 14 September at the Gran Casino Barcelona. Follow the game through EPT.com.
